About
This epyphitic cacti originates from the rainforest of Mexico and has uniquely shaped long, flat stems resembling a fishbone, hence its name. It's also called zig zag cactus or rik rak cactus for the same reason.

Medium filtered light only. The best exposure is an East or North facing window.
During spring and summer, the top of the soil should stay moderately damp.
Fishbone Cactus grows well in temperatures between 60 and 70 °F.
Every 2 weeks, with a 10-10-10 ratio. In February, use a 2-10-10 ratio.
The best location for Fishbone Cactus is where the plant can get full morning sun but has shelter from high noon light. In the summer, the plant can stay outdoors, but choose a shady place.
In the winter, the top of the soil can dry out slightly between each watering. Fishbone Cactus can easily suffer from fungus gnats and root rot.
Fishbone Cactus thrives inhumid environments and can tolerate temperatures down to 50 °F for short periods of time.
Stop when flowers blossom.

The Epiphyllums are know to be the forest cacti: they are cacti but they grow in forests. They are also called orchid cacti because of their flowers, big and dramatic, that look like the gourgeous orchid blooms. Anguliger means ‘angle bearing’, referring to the flattened stems which have a zig-zaggy pattern. This plant grows on threes in Central America.
